Useful tips how to avoid mosquitoes this summer

1. **Use Insect Repellent**: Apply insect repellent containing DEET, picar, oil of lemon, or IR353 to exposed and clothing. Follow product instructions for safe use.

2. **Wear Protective Clothing**: Wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants,, and closed-to shoes when outdoors, especially during peak mosquito activity times (dawn dusk).

3. **Choose Light-Colored Clothing**: Mosquitoes are attracted to dark colors, so opt for light-colored clothing to make yourself less appealing to them.

4. **Install Screens**: Ensure that windows and doors have tight-fitting screens to keep mosquitoes out of your home. Repair any holes or tears in screens promptly.

5. **Use Mosquito Nets**: If you’re sleeping in an area with a high mosquito population, use a mosquito net over your bed. This is especially important in regions where mosquito-borne diseases are prevalent.

6. **Eliminate Standing Water**: Mosquitoes breed in standing water. Regularly empty and clean containers that collect water, such as flower pots, bird baths, gutters, and pet bowls.

7. **Use Fans**: Mosquitoes are weak fliers, so using fans (both indoors and outdoors) can help keep them away from you.

8. **Avoid Peak Activity Times**: Mosquitoes are most active during dawn and dusk. If possible, limit outdoor activities during these times.

9. **Use Mosquito Traps**: Consider using mosquito traps to reduce the mosquito population in your area. These devices attract and capture mosquitoes.

10. **Plant Mosquito-Repellent Plants**: Some plants, such as citronella, lavender, marigolds, and basil, are known to repel mosquitoes. Planting these around your home can help reduce mosquito presence.

11. **Use Essential Oils**: Certain essential oils, such as eucalyptus, lavender, and tea tree oil, can act as natural mosquito repellents. You can apply diluted essential oils to your skin or use them in diffusers.

12. **Keep Your Environment Clean**: Regularly mow your lawn, trim bushes, and remove debris where mosquitoes might hide.

13. **Use Mosquito Coils and Candles**: Burning mosquito coils or citronella candles can help keep mosquitoes at bay in outdoor areas.

14. **Stay in Air-Conditioned Areas**: Mosquitoes are less likely to be found in air-conditioned environments, so staying indoors with the AC on can help reduce your exposure.
By combining these strategies, you can significantly reduce your chances of being bitten by mosquitoes.
