Lizzo Asks Judge To Dismiss Allegations Of Bullying From Ex-Employee

Lizzo denies another startling accusation. After three of Lizzo’s former dancers sued, a clothing designer is accusing the “About Damn Time” singer of creating a “culture of racism and bullying” at work. Lizzo’s lawyer rejected the charges and wanted the lawsuit dismissed immediately. Asha Daniels, a garment designer on Lizzo’s “Special” tour this year, told Billboard she encountered “racism and bullying” at work. Joining in February 2023, Daniels said she “suffered constant anxiety and panic attacks.”  Daniels stated that Lizzo’s dancers were forced to change in “small, tight changing areas…with little to no privacy” as the stage staff, “primarily white males, would lewdly gawk, sneer, and giggle” while they got dressed. As Daniels voiced concern over the problematic culture, the wardrobe manager “laughed” and told her not to discuss or repair it. Daniels accused Andrea Nomura, her wardrobe manager, of making racist and fatphobic comments, stereotyping black women, and calling black women on tour “stupid, “useless,” and “fat.” In a recent filing, Lizzo’s team wants Daniel’s complaint dismissed. Daniel’s team called Lizzo’s filing “yet another Hail Mary by Lizzo’s team to try to shift blame to the victims” of her wrongdoing.
