Every year, Tennesseans look forward to saving money during the state’s “Tax Free Weekend” and it’s only a few weeks away.

Starting at 12:01 a.m. on July 26th people will be able to purchase clothing, school supplies, and computers without having to worry about the cost of taxes. Online purchases are also eligible during the weekend.

However, there are stipulations and limits.

CLOTHING

General apparel that costs $100 or less per item, such as shirts, pants, socks, shoes, dresses, etc. are exempt

Items that cost $100 or more are non-exempt as is sports equipment, jewelry, and handbags.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

Any school and art supplies that cost $100 or less per item are exempt.

Items that are sold together can not be split up to stay under $100.

COMPUTERS

Must be for personal use and cost $1,500 or less. Same applies for laptops and tablets.

Storage media (flash drives), individually priced software, printer supplies and household appliances are non-exempt.

Tax Free Holiday ends Sunday, July 28th at 11:59p.
