Zoo Knoxville is Doing Early Bird Hours Through July | Christine

It’s been HOT in Knoxville. The temperatures have been in the 90s, and with the humidity, it’s been feeling like triple-digit weather some days. So while we’re supposed to be enjoying outdoor summer activities; for some people it’s just too hot.

To help with the heat, Zoo Knoxville announced early bird hours where guests can visit the zoo when it’s still cool during the morning hours. Between now and July 31st, they’ll be opening at 8 a.m. — an hour earlier. Early bird hours comes with a few perks, as well. From 8a-9a,

…guests can see what goes on “behind-the-scenes” as our animal care team works to prepare the animal habitats with enrichment. Pop-up surprises are also happening between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m., such as visits with animal ambassadors, presentations of biofacts and natural history about the animals, and Zoo mascots.

The zoo says the early morning are also the best times for animal activity. All the other attractions, such as the Zoo Choo, carousel, and Safari Splash will all open at 9 a.m.

Early bird hours are included in the general admission price. Zoo members get in for free.
